A dark ceremonial chocolate bar made with Jasper Cacao’s Peruvian Criollo cacao, slow-burning chilli warmth, and a flicker of ancient fire.

Maya Fire is our most atmospheric bar in the Cacao Wild range: bold, dark, warming, and quietly dangerous in the best possible way. It begins with rich ceremonial cacao, a smooth vanilla lift, and the clean bitterness of proper dark chocolate, then slowly opens into a creeping chilli heat that lingers on the tongue and throat long after the chocolate has melted.

This bar was created as a dark chocolate homage to ancient Maya ceremonial cacao. We wanted to get as close in spirit as a solid chocolate bar can get to the old cacao drinks: cacao at the centre, vanilla for aromatic lift, and chilli for warmth, movement and fire.

The choice of vanilla, Pasilla and Chiltepin is deliberate. These are not decorative flavours dropped into chocolate for novelty. They belong to the wider botanical world of ancient Mesoamerica, where cacao was prepared as something bitter, spiced, aromatic and alive.

The cacao comes from Jasper Cacao’s Peruvian Criollo paste, sourced from Asháninka cacao-growing communities and chosen for its clean, floral depth, gentle bitterness and bright natural complexity.

This is not hot chocolate in the novelty sense. The fire is restrained, layered and deliberate. Pasilla brings dark fruit, smoke and earthy warmth, while Chiltepin adds a sharper spark at the edge. Together they create a heat that moves slowly rather than shouting.

At the centre is proper dark chocolate. Intense, smooth, slightly wild, with Reishi woven through the base for depth, bitterness and a darker grounding finish. The result is a bar that feels ceremonial without becoming costume. Sensual, elemental, and built for people who like their chocolate with presence.

Made in small batches, Maya Fire belongs to our Cacao Wild range: an ingredient-led expression of chocolate where flavour, texture and atmosphere do the heavy lifting.
